Dragon boat race is one of the most typical traditions of Chinese Dragon Boat Festival which falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. With a far-reaching history of more than 2,000 years, the observance can be dated back to the boat racing to save the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan in Warring States Period (475 - 221 BC). Now dragon boat race has become a worldwide popular water sport and Dragon Boat Festival celebrating activity.

The 2nd Dragon Boat Race is hosted by Shekou Sub-district Office and organized by Shenzhen Bay Community Service Center. It's a challenging sport and teams are made up of all types of people from casual to highly competitive paddlers. A team should be led by a “captain” and there will be experienced coaches and paddlers who will share their technique, tips and training regimes.

Race system:
The race is a round-trip straight track with a distance of 800 meters (one-way 400 meters); every two boats set off at the same time, from the start line to the finish and then return to the start line to end the race.

Race requirements:
A total of 10 teams are recruited, each with 11 members (1 drummer, 10 paddlers).
Participants are suggested to be healthy and good swimmer; aged 18-55, regardless of gender.

Training time: 2021.6.13 (Sunday) 9:30-11:00, 14:00-17:30

Race time: 2021.6.14 (Monday) 9:00-12:00
