Since the beginning of this year, various cutting-edge technologies related to low altitude economy have frequently appeared in Nanshan District.

Since 2023, Nanshan District has vigorously promoted drone-enabled delivery services. In Nanshan commercial districts such as Window of the World and Shenzhen Bay RAIL IN, the entire process from ordering takeout, packaging, drone delivery to drone landing takes no more than 15 minutes, which is nearly 150% more efficient than traditional delivery models.

The vigorous development of low altitude economy is indispensable from Nanshan District’s solid industrial foundation. All 12 universities and research institutions directly related to the drone industry in Shenzhen are located in Nanshan. The district also has the only national level drone technology and trade service platform in the country, providing strong support for the innovative development of low altitude economy industries.

According to statistics, there are over 160 enterprises in the drone industry chain in Nanshan, with consumer drones accounting for over 70% of the global market share. In 2022, the output value of the unmanned aerial vehicle industry in Nanshan District exceeded 55 billion yuan, accounting for more than 50% of the national total.

The acceleration of industrial takeoff is complemented by a series of policies introduced by Nanshan in terms of industrial policy support, application scenario demonstration, and sound supporting facilities.

The recently released “Special Support Measures for Promoting Low Altitude Economy Development in Nanshan District (Draft)" mentioned that Nanshan's goals are to "build a headquarters and R&D base for low altitude economy enterprises, and build a hub for world low altitude economy."

A maximum subsidy of 60 million yuan (US$8.38 millionn) will be given for a single category.

Newly settled enterprises in the low altitude economy field with a registered capital of 5 million yuan or more can receive up to 10 million yuan in subsidies at a rate of 5% of the paid up registered capital if they meet the required conditions.

For newly introduced whole machine enterprises, Nanshan plans to provide a one-time reward of up to 20 million yuan based on the previous year's output value or operating income.

For newly introduced enterprises engaged in low altitude core components, key materials, and operational service, a maximum reward of 10 million yuan can be given.

For the research and development, manufacturing, and operation projects of low altitude aircraft landing in the district, if the project investment amount (excluding land price) reaches 100 million yuan or more, a one-time subsidy of 20% of the project investment amount will be given, with a maximum of 60 million yuan per enterprise.
