Nanshan delegation’s visit to Portugal yields fruitful results

From April 18 to 20 (Portugal local time), a delegation of the Nanshan District Government led by Huang Xiangyue, head of the district, visited Portugal.

During its trip, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Portugal, Millennium BCP, Fidelidade, Hospital da Luz Lisboa, as well as Huawei’s Portuguese subsidiary and other enterprises and institutions, discussed football training cooperation for youths with the S.L. Benfica football club, and participated in the Macao-Portugal Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference.

Nanshan delegation had a meeting with Millennium BCP and Fidelidade.

Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Zhao Bentang received the delegation, saying that through the interaction between Portugal and Shenzhen, the two sides can achieve win-win cooperation in the economic and trade field, culture and sports, marine economy and scientific research. He welcomed Nanshan District to carry out extensive business cooperation in Portugal.

Huang hoped that with the support and assistance of the embassy, the business development of key Shenzhen enterprises such as Huawei, Mindray and DJI in Portugal will be further promoted, and more Shenzhen and Portuguese enterprises will be encouraged to explore bilateral and multilateral cooperation opportunities. Additionally, Nanshan District, together with the China Merchants Group, will explore and study the use of the Portuguese port of Sinesas a bridge to further promote the smooth development of the Sino-Portuguese import and export trade.

During the visits to Fidelidade and Millennium BCP, Huang introduced Nanshan’s overall economic and social development, as well as the development plans for the Greater Bay Area together with Qianhai’s 30 financial measures, in a bid to attract the two financial companies to set up subsidiaries in Nanshan.

While talking with the Lisbon-based S.L. Benfica professional football club, Huang invited the club’s management team to visit Nanshan and learn about the training facilities and players’ performance standards in Nanshan, and then flesh out cooperation plans to facilitate the cooperation between the football club and the Greater Bay Area.

Subsequently, the delegation participated in the Macao-Portugal Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference held in Portugal, had in-depth exchanges with the Fosun Group, Sino-Portuguese Cooperation and Development Fund, Portuguese Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Macao Trade Promotion Bureau, among others, and reached preliminary cooperation intentions.

During its stay in Portugal, the delegation also had an in-depth communication with the head of a Lisbon startup incubator and the organizers of Web Summit.
