Initiated by the Shenzhen Illustration Association in collaboration with 24 illustration associations and organizations from more than 15 countries and regions around the world, the IIE is a globally recognized exhibition celebrated for its professionalism. Visitors can admire the latest artistic expressions in illustrations from around the world.

Traditionally confined to books for story-telling, illustration has evolved into a pivotal visual form in modern design, due to its ability to convey life’s essence and aesthetically impress viewers.

The IIE curators have meticulously selected innovative and inspirational illustrations for the exhibition, reflecting the global illustration trends and showcasing the creative visions of contemporary illustrators worldwide. The exhibition not only serves as a platform for showcasing art but also acts as a bridge connecting global artists, enthusiasts, and industry professionals in publications and commercials.

During the exhibition, visitors can also admire award-winning works from the ninth China Illustration Biennial, attend various academic events and participate in cross-disciplinary activities, such as illustration sharing sessions, screenings, illustration and merchandise markets, and live concerts.

The IIE exhibition is part of the OCAT Children’s Arts Festival in the summer, which includes other exhibitions in OCT-LOFT and OCT Art & Design Gallery. Also at OCAT B10, a poetry-themed interactive exhibition inspired by the animated Chinese movie “Chang An” offers children an entertaining and educational experience in a poetic and playful setting.

The film, produced by Light Chaser Animation Studio, premiered last summer to critical acclaim and commercial success, earning both domestic and international accolades. The story follows renowned Tang Dynasty (618-907) poets including Li Bai, Gao Shi, Du Fu, Wang Wei and other artists, who draw inspiration from their passions and disappointments to create timeless works of Chinese literature.

The exhibition recreates some scenes from the film, bringing to life the magnificent chapter of Chinese poetry in the Tang Dynasty. At the exhibition, actors portraying the poets guide visitors through interactive games and immersive installations, inviting children to recite or compose poems with “Li Bai” and “Du Fu,” learn ancient etiquette with “Gao Shi,” and play the guqin with “Wang Wei,” providing a glimpse into the engrossing traditional Chinese culture. A huge interactive screen allows visitors to interact with flying cranes, symbolic creatures in ancient Chinese literature.

Both are ticketed exhibitions with various discounts.
