Shenzhen-based flutist Jin Ta, the principal flutist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, will collaborate with Hong Kong pianist Jamie Shum to give a concert at Mountain View Theater in Shekou on July 6.

The program will be Beethoven’s “Piano Sonata No. 17 in D Minor,” Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2,” Schubert’s “Wanderer Fantasy,” Poulenc’s “Flute Sonata” and Taffanel’s “Fantaisie sur le Freyschutz.” Audience members are expected to be immersed in the emotive piano compositions and the ethereal flute pieces.

This is the fourth and final concert of Mountain View Theater’s Kaleidoscopic Greater Bay series in the summer, a collaborative effort between talented musicians from Hong Kong and the mainland. Co-organized by China Merchants Culture Industry | Performing Arts Connection and Hong Kong SAR Government’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the series celebrates the fusion of music talents, presenting both classical masterpieces and contemporary works.

The concerts give Shenzhen music enthusiasts a rare chance to experience the diverse musical landscape of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Musicians in the series all hail from prestigious conservatories or hold renowned accolades.

In a recent performance on June 23, Hong Kong saxophonist Chemie Ching, Guangzhou violinist Liao Haoyue, and Hong Kong pianist Cherry Tsang mesmerized the audience with a captivating tango and jazz concert, featuring compositions by Gershwin, Piazzolla, and others.

Following this, on June 29, Guangzhou violinist Tan Yabing, Hong Kong clarinet player Linus Fung, and Hong Kong pianist Alexander Wong enchanted the audience with classic pieces by Debussy, Saint-Saens, Ravel, Muczynski and the rarely performed Stravinsky piece “Soldier’s Tale, Trio Version.”

Moreover, on June 16, the Cong Quartet from Hong Kong collaborated with Shenzhen pianist Liu Xiaoya to deliver a soothing afternoon of Schumann’s quintet, Liszt’s piano melodies, and Mendelssohn’s string quartet, enriching the audience with a delightful musical experience.
