A total of 28 paintings created by the Spanish artist Domènec Corbella are currently showcased at the “Valle Y Mar Sin Fin” exhibition. Corbella, a distinguished professor emeritus at the University of Barcelona, obtained his doctorate from the same institution in 1985, focusing on the language and ideograms present in Joan Miró’s Barcelona Series.

Corbella’s profound connection to water is evident in his sea-themed paintings. Having explored the Mediterranean coast, floated atop the Dead Sea, witnessed the ripples of West Lake in Hangzhou, and gazed at the majestic waves of the Atlantic Ocean, he incorporates the imprints of these aquatic landscapes and his memories intertwined with them in his artworks. His fascination lies in the inner potency of the sea, capturing its multilayered beauty in paintings.

Another prevalent motif in Corbella’s repertoire is the valley. The artist was born in a small valley in Spain, where verdant trees and crystalline streams have long captivated him during his summer sojourns. The valley-themed artworks resonate with his intimate ties to his place of birth. The sinuous contours of the mountains and the warm, soothing hues within his paintings sweep viewers into a nostalgic, distant realm of hometown reminiscences.
