Du Weibing, a driver from Shenzhen Bus Group, along with passengers and passers-by, recently saved a woman trapped under a car, DT News reported.
A car collision took place near the Fangding Huating residential compound along Beihuan Boulevard in Nanshan District. CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage shows Du was driving his bus through the area and was flagged down by a man with a white car beside him.
After stopping the bus, Du was shocked to find a woman trapped beneath the white vehicle. He sprang into action to rescue her while asking passengers on the bus to help. Several passers-by also came to lend a hand.
“Come on! One, two, three... Lift!” they shouted, trying to lift the car together. However, they failed as the car’s handbrake was on.
The car owner then released the handbrake, and more and more people joined the rescue. The woman was finally pulled out to safety within a minute and was fully conscious with non-life threatening injuries.
Du was too modest to tell his colleagues about his heroic story until the woman’s family made a phone call to his company to express their gratitude.
“I believe everyone will do the same thing as I did,” Du said.
The woman was still in the hospital recovering from a broken collarbone and ribs due to the accident, her husband told the reporter Wednesday.
According to traffic police, the cause of the accident is being investigated.
