Nanshan hosts SCO-themed dialogue to explore regional cooperation

The Nanshan Dialogue event, centered on the theme of “Connecting with the SCO, Setting Sail from Nanshan Regional Cooperation in a New Era,” was held on Nov. 27. Co-organized by World Affairs Press and the Nanshan District Government, the event facilitated a thematic exchange focused on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

In a keynote address, Zhang Ming, former secretary-general of the SCO, emphasized that the current complex and evolving international landscape presents both new opportunities and challenges for regional collaboration.

Zhang stated that SCO member states should further consolidate development consensus, solidify the foundation of cooperation, and explore emerging fields. Efforts should be made to break down information barriers and achieve complementary advantages in industrial structure, resource endowment, and market demand.

He expressed hope that countries would seize the opportunities of the times to translate promising cooperative blueprints into tangible projects, delivering greater benefits to the peoples of the region.

During the thematic sharing session, Sardar Muhammad, consul general of Pakistan in Guangzhou, remarked that as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor surpasses its ten-year milestone, bilateral cooperation has smoothly entered a second phase centered on technological collaboration.

Muhammad expressed Pakistan’s keen anticipation for deepening cooperation with Nanshan in areas such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and cloud technology.

Diplomatic representatives from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in China outlined the cooperative potential and preferential policies for Chinese enterprises in their respective countries, expressing a desire to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes across broader fields with Shenzhen-based companies through resource empowerment and industrial alignment.

The interactive session featured Chinese and international guests addressing audience questions on topics including “Green Energy Development within the SCO,” “Digital Economy as a New Driver for Regional Cooperation,” and “Cultural Exchanges and People-to-People Bonds.”

Following the discussions, the guests collectively visited the “Go Global” Global Service Center to gain deeper insights into Nanshan’s innovative measures and practical achievements in creating a first-class international business environment and providing one-stop services.
