The 2025 Shenzhen Nanshan Half Marathon will commence at 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 14, organizers announced. Registration for the popular race was open on Nov. 4 at 10 a.m.

The event will feature standard men's and women's half marathon races, covering the classic distance of 21.0975 kilometers. The race is organized to meet the high standards of international top-tier competitions.

The course is designed to showcase the urban landscape of Nanshan District. Starting at the Shahe West Road/Houhai Second Bridge near Shenzhen Talent Park's east gate, the route will finish on Haide Third Road at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. Runners will pass by several of Nanshan's iconic landmarks and distinctive areas, offering a tour of the district's unique blend of technology, culture, mountains, sea, and cityscape.

Since its inception in 2015, the Shenzhen Nanshan Half Marathon has grown significantly in stature. It was recognized as one of Shenzhen's Top Ten Local Sports Brand Events in 2017 and earned a Gold Label status from the Chinese Athletics Association in 2019.

The event's expansion to 20,000 participants in 2024 cemented its place as one of the largest half marathons in China. Its popularity is further underscored by attracting over 80,000 applicants last year, ranking it third in the nation for half marathon registration numbers.
