Defending champions Italy defeated the United States 2-0 in a thrilling final at the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Finals on Sept. 21 at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, successfully retaining their title.

The Italian team secured victory after winning both singles matches against the 18-time world champion American team in front of an enthusiastic crowd that filled the arena with continuous applause and cheers throughout the evening.

From Sept. 16 to 21, the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center hosted the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the prestigious tournament, attracting numerous local residents, out-of-town spectators, and international fans. The sustained enthusiasm and high level of sportsmanship from spectators further enhanced the vibrant sports culture atmosphere in Nanshan District.

"The atmosphere was fantastic, with many fans cheering for me, making it particularly exciting," said local player Wang Xinyu, who competed for Team China on her home court.

As the world's largest and most influential national women's tennis team competition, the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Shenzhen Finals was broadcast globally, showcasing the youthful vitality and innovative charm of Shenzhen's Nanshan District to the world.

Zhang Conghui, founder of AESPORTS Academy and responsible for promoting Wimbledon on the Chinese mainland, noted the growing popularity of tennis in Nanshan.
