A delegation from South Africa’s Department of Trade, Industry and Competition recently visited the “Go Global” Global Service Center in Nanshan District, seeking to deepen economic and trade ties.

The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on Sino-South African industrial strengths and potential collaboration, reaching multiple consensuses on future cooperation directions and laying a solid foundation for enhanced bilateral relations.

This visit came as South Africa participated for the first time this year in the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), where 31 South African enterprises from diverse sectors — including agriculture, electronics, chemicals, leather, footwear and textiles, cosmetics, mining, and creative industries — showcased the country's multifaceted industrial potential.

The South African delegation's trip to Nanshan is a vivid demonstration of South Africa's proactive efforts to strengthen connections at the sub-national and enterprise levels with China. Both parties acknowledged broad prospects for cooperation across numerous fields.

"As the gateway to sub-Saharan Africa, South Africa boasts an advanced manufacturing base and a sophisticated financial system, making it an ideal springboard for Chinese enterprises to access the broader African market," stated a representative from the South Africa's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition. The representative highlighted key pillar industries such as energy, logistics, and digital intelligence technologies, expressing a desire to deepen bilateral cooperation to optimize South Africa's trade structure.

In response, a representative from Nanshan District highlighted the district's robust economic momentum, primarily driven by its high-tech and technology industries. They outlined Nanshan's advantages in technological innovation, particularly in the high-tech sector, and shared leading practices and innovative applications by local district enterprises in fields of interest to South Africa, such as new energy logistics and agricultural technology.

As a crucial hub for international economic and trade cooperation, the “Go Global” Global Service Center in Nanshan facilitates the district's international engagement, having established a service network covering key markets including Europe, America, ASEAN, and the Middle East. This network enhances support for foreign investment landing and international services.

Looking ahead, the center pledged to continuously identify the overseas expansion intentions of local enterprises, precisely align them with South African market demands, and strive to ensure that cooperative projects flourish and yield tangible results.
