The Nanshan District Development and Reform Bureau recently unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to accelerate the district’s low-altitude economy, distributing “Nanshan Low-Altitude Flight Experience Vouchers” to the public.
The move, part of the district’s broader strategy to cultivate urban air mobility (UAM) and expand aerial tourism, aims to turn Nanshan into a national model for low-altitude innovation.
The campaign will target outstanding enterprises, academic institutions, and exemplary individuals — including full-time academicians, model workers, and recipients of May 1 Labor Medals — with vouchers offering access to three flagship experiences: low-altitude short-distance transportation via helicopter, aerial sightseeing tours showcasing Nanshan’s vistas, and science popularization programs for students. The public can also participate through online and offline lotteries on the Ai Nanshan platform.
Participants with vouchers can soar over Shenzhen’s urban landscape, witness the bay area’s coastal beauty, and even test-fly cutting-edge electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Nanshan is actively building its “Two Zones and One Corridor” low-altitude economy operation test zone, and has rolled out policies like the “Implementation Plan for High-Quality Development of Low-Altitude Economy” and “Special Measures for Promoting Low-Altitude Economic Development.”
In 2024, Nanshan launched over 110,000 low-altitude flights, deployed 80 diverse aerial routes, and fast-tracked infrastructure projects to support UAM networks. The world’s first cross-city, cross-bay eVTOL demonstration flight, which was a success, marked a milestone in regional connectivity.
