A lively World Earth Day-themed international flea market took place in Sihai Park on May 19. Hosted by Zhaoshang Subdistrict, Nanshan District, the event saw nearly 100 students from both public and international schools in the subdistrict come together to promote environmental sustainability by giving new life to old items.
With 30 stalls and around 300 participants, the flea market was a vibrant springtime celebration that combined fun and environmental awareness. Students from diverse cultural backgrounds sold unused items, breathing new life into them as part of their commitment to sustainability.

Before the market officially opened, students signed their names and pledged to protect the environment, showcasing their dedication with a display of eco-friendly crafts made from recycled materials.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, JJ, an expatriate resident and singer from the Netherlands, performed alongside talented students who showcased their skills in music, singing, and dancing. These performances contributed to a lively and relaxed event ambiance.

"This flea market educated children on the importance of recycling and gave new value to old items while providing joy," said an enthusiastic parent from Italy, praising the initiative.
Xie Xuan from the Apple Creative Arts Group, who sold beautifully illustrated eco-friendly bags made specifically for the event, drew much attention and support from visitors.

As the event concluded, students took on the responsibility of cleaning up the venue, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship and teamwork. This hands-on experience reinforced the significance of contributing to the planet's well-being.
The spring flea market successfully promoted Earth Day's environmental values, fostering interaction between local and international communities and highlighting Zhaoshang's rich international culture.
