The recently completed Xili Lake Greenway (Ecological Corridor), has swiftly ascended to the status of a popular destination for both residents and tourists seeking tranquility and leisure. Spanning 16.2 kilometers, this picturesque greenway offers a rich recreational experience and has become a hot spot for weekend activities.
At the weekends, the entrance to the greenway is bustling with activity as early risers like Mr. Chen, a cycling aficionado, gather to enjoy the scenic route. "The vistas are expansive here, and the thoughtful separation of cycling and hiking trails adds to the enjoyment," Mr. Chen commented. "The combination of lake and mountain scenery is truly relaxing and uplifting."
The greenway is teeming with families enjoying quality time, photographers capturing the landscape, and joggers maintaining their fitness routines. Sunflower and rapeseed fields, viewing platforms, and rest stations are among the attractions that have captured the hearts of visitors like Ms. Wang. "It's remarkable how each step brings a new view. It's a perfect place to introduce children to wetland ecology, almost like having a nature classroom at our doorstep," she said.
As a vital component of the X-Lake Sciensity's ecological environment, the greenway around Xili Lake is integral to the "Mountain-sea Vistas" vision of Nanshan District. The project encircles the urban landscapes, villages, forests, and water systems around Xili Reservoir with a 16.2-kilometer greenway mainline, linking nine landscape nodes and five characteristic rest stations.
The district's urban management and comprehensive law enforcement bureau advises that the greenway around Xili Lake is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., except for temporary closures for special reasons. Due to limited parking, they recommend green commuting or using nearby commercial parking lots to avoid travel disruptions.
For public order and safety, visitors are encouraged to stay within designated areas and avoid overcrowding. Shared bicycles are prohibited on weekends and holidays but are allowed on weekdays. Once inside the greenway, a dynamic management system will be in place.
The bureau also reminds the public that most of the greenway is within a secondary water source protection zone and forest area, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection. Fishing is forbidden, and while picnics are permitted, setting up tents or canopies is not allowed. Additionally, visitors are advised not to pick wild mushrooms found in the area.
