UBTECH, Siemens partner to scale humanoid robot production

Chinese robotics company UBTECH Robotics announced on Monday that it had signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Siemens Digital Industries Software aimed at accelerating its production capacity for humanoid robots to 10,000 units by 2026.

The partnership, signed in Shenzhen, will integrate UBTECH’s full-stack technology in the humanoid robotics sector with Siemens' global expertise in digitalized manufacturing, the Shenzhen-based robotics company stated.

Zhou Jian, founder, chairman and CEO of UBTECH, said the company is experiencing a significant surge in orders, making large-scale production an urgent target for this year. The collaboration with Siemens is positioned as a key step toward meeting that demand.

"This strategic cooperation with Siemens is a crucial measure for us to ensure the realization of this goal," Zhou said in a statement.

"Relying on the technical and resource advantages of both parties, we will make every effort to reach our mass production targets." According to the agreement, the collaboration will focus on technological integration, talent development, and industry ecosystem building. Siemens will provide UBTECH with a comprehensive digital transformation roadmap, guiding the company from core technology research and development to mass production based on global practices and industry trends.

Under the terms, UBTECH will prioritize the use of Siemens' digital industrial software solutions across its operations, including product design, simulation testing, process planning, and production management. Siemens will also provide customized technical services and ongoing training to support skill development.

Siemens Digital Industries Software, part of the Germany-based tech giant Siemens, offers a portfolio of software, hardware, and services through its Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform to help companies of all sizes undergo digital transformation.
