The 100-day countdown ceremony for the 15th National Games and 12th National Paralympic Games, along with the 9th National Special Olympic Games, was held in Shenzhen on the evening of Aug. 2. At the ceremony, the highly anticipated ceremonial torch, medals, and other key elements of the events were unveiled.
Nanshan District, a core host urban district, is embracing the sporting extravaganza with a vibrant atmosphere and finalizing preparations to welcome athletes and spectators. The district will host three key events: athletics (marathon), women's under-22 basketball, and women's under-18 volleyball.
In recent days, the excitement for the National Games has become palpable across Nanshan. Large LED screens in prominent areas including the Coastal City shopping mall, Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, and various communities are continuously displaying theme posters for the Games. Additionally, themed areas at Metro stations such as Taoyuan and Houhai have been set up, attracting many citizens who stop to take photos and share their enthusiasm.
Behind the scenes, preparation and service guarantee work in the Nanshan competition area has entered the final stage. Authorities are fully advancing the renovation of venues and environmental optimization. The goal is to welcome the national sports feast in the best possible state, using Nanshan as a window to showcase the charm of Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
A key aspect of Nanshan's strategy has been the clever utilization and revitalization of existing venue resources. The Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center is set to host the women's under-18 volleyball competition, while the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center will be the venue for the women's under-22 basketball tournament.
Currently, the upgrading and renovation of these two major venues have reached a significant milestone. The core projects at both sites have been completed and have passed acceptance inspections, ensuring they are ready to meet the standards required for the National Games.
