On June 24, Lu Yuping, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Nanshan District People’s Congress and chairwoman of the Nanshan District Federation of Trade Unions, led a delegation of local lawmakers to inspect the northern section of Metro Line 13 and the Xili Comprehensive Transportation Hub. The visit aimed to assess transportation infrastructure development in Nanshan’s northern region.
The Phase I project of Metro Line 13, spanning 16 stations from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint in the south to Shangwu Station in the north, has already seen its southern section (Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint Station – Hi-Tech Central Station) operational since Dec. 28, 2024.
The northern section, linking the Xili hub, Liuxiandong headquarters base, and Shiyan area, recently completed a critical hot sliding test — a high-voltage electrical safety procedure — and is now in the high-speed train commissioning phase.
The Xili Comprehensive Transportation Hub is an important node on the district’s science and technology innovation axis. When finished, the hub will surpass existing stations to become China’s largest rail transit transfer center, significantly boosting Shenzhen’s connectivity.
During the inspection, lawmakers toured bustling construction sites under intense summer heat, observing engineering progress and participating in symposiums with project teams.
Discussions centered on engineering challenges, design innovations, and timelines, with deputies offering recommendations to ensure high-standard construction and efficient advancement.
Lu emphasized the strategic importance of the northern area. The northern region’s development momentum has accelerated in recent years. Major initiatives like the X-Lake Sciensity and the Xili Comprehensive Transportation Hub will transform this area into a key driver of Nanshan’s economic growth, fostering balanced regional development.
