Tencent, one of China's leading tech giants, has announced a bold new employment initiative aimed at bolstering its talent pool and fostering innovation. The Nanshan company plans to add 28,000 internship positions over the next three years, with a significant focus on converting these internships into full-time employment opportunities.
In a strategic move to attract top-tier talent, Tencent aims to recruit 10,000 interns from prestigious universities in 2025 alone, with a remarkable 60% of these positions reserved for technical experts. This initiative underscores Tencent's commitment to nurturing the next generation of tech leaders and innovators.
This year, the company has expanded its internship offerings to over 70 different roles across five major categories: technology, product, design, marketing, and functions. The diverse range of positions includes cutting-edge fields such as big models, research and development, algorithms, marketing, planning, operations, sales, and art. Notably, Tencent has intensified its recruitment drive for key technology positions in artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, game engines, and digital content.
As of early March 2023, Tencent boasts a workforce of over 55,000 formal employees, with more than 40,000 dedicated to technology roles, representing 73% of the total workforce. A significant portion of this team, over 27,000 employees, is directly involved in technology research and development, nearly half of the company's total staff.
Tencent's commitment to school enrollment and recruitment is well-established, and the company continues to lead among Internet enterprises in terms of recruitment numbers. Driven by the era's proposition of scientific and technological innovation, Tencent is not only strengthening its forward-looking reserve of scientific and technological talents but also growing alongside young talents to drive technological innovation in the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence sectors.
This year's spring recruitment drive is exceptionally broad in scope, with positions available not only in major Chinese cities like Shenzhen, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chengdu but also in over 20 countries and regions worldwide, including Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the Netherlands. This global outreach provides a wealth of opportunities for outstanding young talents to join Tencent's vibrant and innovative workforce.
