Drone light show wows Shenzheners

A stunning light show featuring 10,000 drones made its debut in the sky over Shenzhen Talent Park in Nanshan District on the evening of Sept. 26, dazzling residents with a mesmerizing blend of high technology and art.The drone light show also set two Guinness World records: one for the most drones controlled by a single computer at the same time, and the other for the most drones involved in a light show, according to the event organizer.

Titled “City in the Sky, with Great Possibilities,” the show started at around 8:30 p.m. when thousands of drones slowly took to the air, breaking the silence of the night. The enchanting and vibrant displays attracted many residents and tourists, who eagerly captured images of the drones forming various patterns celebrating Shenzhen, including a roc spreading its wings and iconic city landmarks.The drones lit up the night sky, showcasing Shenzhen as a hub of technology and futurism, embodying the theme of the “City in the Sky.”

Residents were full of praise for the performance.“It was really impressive, and the formations of the drones were so creative,” said a man who gave only his family name Dai.
Another resident, who identified himself as Zhu, gave a thumbs-up when discussing the elements presented in the light performance. He said that the chosen patterns loudly symbolized what Shenzhen represents. “This show is what Shenzhen is all about.”

Many residents expressed a desire to see the show again during the upcoming National Day holiday, calling it “spectacular.”According to the organizer, drone shows will be staged at five different locations for seven consecutive days during the National Day holiday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, adding to the festive atmosphere in the city.The drone performances, each lasting between 10 and 15 minutes, will take place in turn at five locations in five districts from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. between Oct. 1 and 7.The show will start at Bijia Mountainl Sports Park in Futian District at 8 p.m., followed by performances at Donghu Park in Luohu District, the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center in Longgang and the Mission Hills Ecological Sports Community in Longhua District, ending at the Yueliang Bay Plaza in Nan’ao, Dapeng New Area, at 9 p.m.
