Ten Shenzhen companies secured spots on the 2024 Fortune World 500 list, among which three are headquartered in Nanshan District, including Tencent (141st), SF Express (415th), and China Electronics (435th).
The list, which was unveiled on Aug. 5, ranks the world’s largest corporations based on their revenue for the 2023 fiscal year.
Tencent, SF Express, and China Electronics reported revenues of US$86.02 billion, US$ 35.39 billion, and US$35.39 billion, respectively.
In 2023, Tencent made breakthroughs in multiple products and services, such as WeChat Channels, advertising AI models, and games, which have driven gross profit and operating profit growth to exceed revenue growth and become high-quality sources of revenue for Tencent.
SF Express has become a household name in the express delivery industry. After years of development, SF Express has become the largest integrated logistics service provider in China and Asia, and the fourth largest in the world. Its business has expanded to various logistics sectors including time-critical express delivery, economy express delivery, express delivery, cold chain delivery, medicine and same-day delivery, international express delivery, international freight and agency, and supply chain.
This is the 14th consecutive year that China Electronics has been selected for the Fortune Global 500 list. According to the company’s official website, the enterprise is a State-owned key enterprise directly managed by the Central Government, with the internet and information technology industry as its core business.
At present, China Electronics has 189,000 employees, 24 listed companies, 663 member enterprises, total assets of 433.6 billion yuan (US$60.44 billion), and business coverage in more than 60 countries across six continents worldwide.
