The Shenzhen Metro is the rapid transit system for the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, China.
The system opened on December 28, 2004, making Shenzhen the sixth city on the Chinese mainland to have a subway after Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Wuhan. Shenzhen’s Metro network now has 14 lines and one spur line in service, operated by Shenzhen Metro Group Co. Ltd. and MTR Corporation (Shenzhen) Ltd.

QR code payment for Metro riders
Metro riders in Shenzhen can use their mobile phones to pay their fares by scanning the WeChat QR codes at the exit turnstiles of Metro stations.
They can use the Shenzhen Metro app (深圳地铁APP), Shenzhen Metro WeChat miniapp (深圳地铁e出行), or Tencent miniprogram Transit QR Code (腾讯乘车码) for Metro rides.
Riders can have their codes scanned when they are at the entrance turnstiles and pay their fare when they exit. The fare will be deducted directly from the rider’s account.
